Dear You,
Today I was introduced to a siphon coffee maker for the first time and during the introduction Erykah Badu’s Orange Moon played in the background. I laughed at the timing of the chorus of “how good it is” even before having a chance to taste why the coffee made with elaborate glassware and funnels might be better than the no-nonsense Keurig used every morning. I didn’t have the heart to pretend I was a connoisseur but did feel there was something extra special about preparing ones tastebuds for the flavor of intensified authenticity. It reminded me that no matter how we taste to others, we must always be in preparation for depths of flavor yet undiscovered.
Love,
Me
